This is absolutely worth the effort to make at home because no one is going to misspell your name on the cup you’re drinking it from.

Tea Lattes

Ingredients

3 Teabags of your choice (3 is the magic number)

Water, for boiling

1 1/2 Cups Milk (Any Kind)

2 Tbsp. Heavy Cream or Dairy-free Alternative

2 Tbsp. Honey (recommended), Agave, or Maple Syrup

Dash of Cinnamon, for topping (optional/depends on the tea)

Steps

1. In a small-to-medium-sized pot or saucepan, bring roughly 1 to 1 1/2 cups of water to a boil on the stove over high heat.

2. Turn off the heat and steep tea bags in the boiled water for 6-14 minutes. (The longer the better!)

3. Once steeped, discard all but 1/2 cup of tea-infused water. Return said 1/2 cup of tea-infused water to the pot.

4. Add the milk, heavy cream (or non-dairy creamer), and honey (or another natural sweetener) to the pot and stir to combine.

5. Turn the stove back on to a medium-low or medium heat setting, stirring semi-frequently.

6. When the temperature of the latte feels just hot enough to the touch (not enough to burn you, but hot enough that you wouldn’t leave your finger in) or the temperature has reached 100-110 degrees F (using a thermometer), turn the stove to its lowest setting. (If you don’t have a tool to generate a foam for your latte, skip to step 9.)

7. If you have a milk frother: Good for you! Wow, proud of you, that’s such a specific tool, I’m guessing this isn’t your first time using it. While the latte is still in the pot, use the frother to generate a nice, foamy layer at the top. (Create as much or as little foam as you want.)

8. If you have an immersion blender: Wow! You also have a really specific kitchen tool! If you want foam on top of your latte, place the immersion blender straight down into the latte and use it at low or high speed to generate as much or as little foam as you desire.

9. Remove from heat and serve with, as Niles Crane would say, a whisper of cinnamon.

10. Enjoy!

Note

1. This recipe can be made with any kind of tea you’d like; chai, sleepytime, earl grey, green tea, anything!
